Ev's projects
Team Evelyn supports meaningful projects that bring joy, comfort, and practical support to childhood cancer families, including our Annual Blood Drive, Parking Pass program, RadFlix, and The Child Life Fund. Each initiative is rooted in our belief that families facing childhood cancer are more than just a patient and a diagnosis - they are children, parents, siblings, and loved ones navigating an incredibly difficult journey together. Through these projects, we strive to ease the burden of cancer, create moments of joy, and remind every family that they are seen, supported, and never alone.

radflix - Child before patient

When Evelyn underwent radiation treatment, she received care at Calgary's adult Cancer Centre—a space designed for adults, not children. The bright, child-friendly environment she had come to know at the Alberta Children's Hospital was replaced by unfamiliar equipment, immobilization masks, and treatment rooms that could feel intimidating and overwhelming.
After every radiation session, Evelyn would look at me and say, "It would be so much easier if I could just watch a movie." That simple statement became the inspiration for RadFlix.
Today, RadFlix is transforming the radiation experience for children by allowing them to watch their favorite movies and shows during treatment. This simple innovation helps reduce fear and anxiety, creates a more positive treatment experience, and, for many children, can reduce or even eliminate the need for anesthesia. Most importantly, it helps children remain children, even while facing cancer.
RadFlix has been installing in hospitals across the United States and Canada, bringing comfort and hope to thousands of children and their families. But there is still so much more to do. Every child deserves access to compassionate, child-centered care, regardless of where they receive treatment.
The childlife fund

Team Evelyn proudly advocated for dedicated Child Life support at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre, recognizing the importance of caring for the whole child, not just their cancer diagnosis. Through a $250,000 fundraising commitment to Alberta Children’s Hospital and Alberta Cancer Care, we helped make it possible for a Child Life Specialist to support childhood cancer patients as they come to the centre for treatment. This vital role helps children and families navigate the emotional and practical challenges of cancer through age-appropriate support, education, play, and connection.
We are incredibly proud to have reached our $250,000 commitment in September 2025, helping bring compassionate, child-focused care to families when they need it most.
